The recruited researcher researcher will be involved in antenna design, modeling and characterization.


The main objective of the research topic is to propose the analysis and design of dual polarization Continous Transverse Stub (CTS) networks. A parallel-powered network will be considered for broadband operation. The idea is to use multi-modal CTS networks. Conventional CTS networks adopt the main TEM ("Transerve Electromagnetic") mode of the PPW power supply guide. Here we propose to use the TEM mode and the TE ("Transverse Electric") mode. These two modes are orthogonal and, if properly powered, can generate double polarization.
The end goal and the expected results are a single CST network covering Tx and Rx tapes for Satcom applications in Ka. A field of view of ± 45 ° in elevation will be targeted with the possibility of extending it to even larger angles. Mechanical scanning or beam switching will be considered in the azimuthal plane of the antenna.
