A 12 months fixed-term positions at the Cancer Research Center of Marseille (CRCM) is immediately available. Funding is secured by the 'Agence Nationale de la Recherche'.
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative engineer in Organic/Medicinal chemistry to join our drug discovery program. The hired scientist will focus its research on Structure-Based Drug Design programs with a specific emphasis on synthesis of the designed structures.
The candidate will be part of an ongoing and exciting adventure consisting of the methodological development to accelerate identification and optimization of covalent hits in drug-design projects. He/she will perform synthetic chemical experiments, purification and full characterization (NMR, LC/MS...) to build second generation of chemical libraries of electrophilic warheads. He/she will be involved in a close relationship with other medicinal chemists, chemo-informaticians, and structural biologists involved in the project. The resulting libraries will be evaluated in enzymatic assays and selected proteins of interests already set-up in the CRCM.
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Medicinal Chemistry or in Organic Synthesis. Knowledge/skills in chemoinformatics/molecular modelling and/or a prior experience in a pharmaceutical industry is not a requirement but would be a plus.
The Cancer Research Center of Marseille (CRCM) is hosted by the cancer hospital 'Institut Paoli- Calmettes' (IPC), a European leading cancer hospital set on the Mediterranean shores in Southern France, and by the Faculty of Pharmacy of Aix-Marseille University, one of the biggest universities in France. More than 400 researchers work at CRCM on strongly multi-disciplinary and translational research basis with the clinicians from the hospital.
Constraints and risks
The candidate must be used to work routinely and safely in chemical laboratories and must be able to conduct chemical experiments in anhydrous conditions and under inert atomosphere using hazardous reagents
