Missions
A post-doctoral researcher position is available in the team of Yasmine Cantaut-Belarif within the Development, Adaptation & Ageing (Dev2A) department of the Institute of Biology Paris Seine (IBPS). The team “Long-range signal integration during development” newly created under the impulsion of the ATIP-Avenir funding is seeking for a candidate with experience in neuroscience and/or developmental biology interested in participating in a research program aiming to understand how specific signalling pathways emerging from the nervous system influence the morphogenesis of the posterior axis of the body and the alignment of the spine during development and growth. To address these questions, the candidate will combine genetics with state-of-the-art imaging in zebrafish, neuroanatomy, and gain- & loss-of-function approaches applied to functional investigations in transgenic and mutant lines available in the team. Close collaboration with the PI is offered and hands-on training will be provided for additional techniques according to the candidate's profile. The position is funded (1 year fixed-term contract renewable; 2 years total) but candidates will be expected to apply for long-term funding opportunities.
Activités
Using zebrafish as an animal model, the candidate will study how the brain processes and integrates biochemical information susceptible to influence the morphogenesis of the anterior-posterior axis of the body during development and growth. Activities include:
- Design and implementation of experimental protocols for in toto labelling in the nervous system, clearing of thick samples & photonic imaging. Experimental approaches also include the integration of morphoanatomical and connectivity measurements, as well as the development of functional tests based on genetic tools.
- Design and implementation of quantitative analysis protocols applied to datasets resulting from experimental investigations (including image analysis data).
- Monitoring and maintaining animal colonies in compliance with ethical rules and regulations.
- Participation in the coordination of project implementation between the host team, external collaborators and technological platforms involved.

Compétences
The candidate must hold a PhD in neuroscience or developmental biology, and have solid, proven experience in neuroanatomy and/or developmental biology of the nervous system, imaging (confocal and light sheet in particular), and clearing of thick samples. Previous experience with the zebrafish model is desirable. Proficiency in transcriptomics techniques (bulk, single cell), analysis of large datasets, and coding (Python, R, Matlab) will be an asset. Advanced English (oral and written) is required. The candidate must be able to summarize and conceptualize information, take initiatives in carrying out the project, and must be able to work with a proactive and cooperative style in a team & international environment. Rigor, organizational skills, ability to prioritize and willingness to tackle tasks with structured, reproducible working methods in mind are expected.
