The aim of this project is to develop new silicon materials that are physically crosslinked and remendable in a precise temperature range. The first objective of the work will be to synthesize silicon polymers with very well controlled architectures. The thermo-mechanical properties of these polymers will then be fully characterized. Particular attention will be paid to the adhesive properties of the polymer as well as their barrier and permeation properties. A third aspect of the work will be to verify the possibility to scale-up the synthesis of the polymers.
- Synthesis of silicon polymers with very well controlled architectures
- Characterization of the molecular properties of the polymers according to the usual methodologies (SEC, NMR, UV, IR)
- Characterization of the thermomechanical properties of the polymers according to the usual methodologies (DSC, DMA, rheology, tensile test, etc.)
- Establish the structure-property relationship of the materials between the architecture of the polymers and their thermomechanical as well as adhesive and permeation properties.
- Scale-up of the synthesis of the polymer
- Writing of reports and publications
- Molecular and macromolecular synthesis
- Common methods for the characterization of the molecular properties of polymers
- Common methods for the characterization of the thermomechanical properties of polymers
- Reactive extrusion
The Laboratory of Chemistry of Organic Polymers (LCPO) is a joint research unit affiliated to the CNRS, the University of Bordeaux and l'Institut Polytechnique de Bordeaux (http://www.lcpo.fr). The LCPO is organized into 4 research teams with a total strength of nearly 150 people, including about 50 permanent staff.
With over 30 years of expertise in polymer chemistry, researches at LCPO aim at:
- developing innovative methodologies for precision synthesis of polymers, using in particular biomimetic and/or green chemistry pathways
- designing functional polymer materials by macromolecular engineering and self-assembly.
The work of the recruited agent will be carried out in team 2 of the LCPO and in collaboration with an industrial partner.
Team 2 is entitled "Biopolymers and Bio-sourced Polymers" and is headed by Henri Cramail.
The team is developing the use of bio-resources for polymer synthesis with the following main orientations:
- the use of (modified) vegetable oils as monomers
- obtaining polymerizable synthons from ligno-cellulosic biomass
This project will be carried out within Team 2. In this context, an important aspect of the work will be to respect the principles of green chemistry (as much as possible) and to use chemicals and synthons stemming from bioresources. The project will be supervised by Henri Cramail (Professor at the University of Bordeaux) and Thomas Vidil (CNRS researcher at the LCPO)
The scientific production will be valorized through patents and publications in high impact journals.
