Missions
"A position is available as part of the ANR MICE (Microbial CO2 exchange in peatlands) project. This project aims to understand the importance of net microbial CO2 exchanges with the atmosphere for the carbon cycle in peatlands. Based at the Centre de Recherche sur la Biodiversité et l'Environnement (CRBE), the recruited person will be responsible for developing a method to quantify the abundance of various microbial groups involved in CO2 fixation and respiration using dPCR, and for applying this method to a global sampling effort.
Activités
The recruited person will be in charge of DNA/RNA extractions and amplicon sequencing to study microbial communities. They will also perform the quantification of absolute abundances of specific microbial functional groups using dPCR (digital PCR) approaches. Finally, an essential part of the position will consist of data analysis and the writing of scientific articles to disseminate the research findings.
Compétences
This position is intended for a candidate with a PhD in Microbial Ecology. Solid expertise in molecular biology is essential, particularly proven experience with dPCR (digital PCR) techniques. The person must also be proficient in data analysis and the use of the R software. Furthermore, as the work context is international, an excellent command of English is crucial, as is a strong ability to work in a team and collaborate with various partners.
Contexte de travail
The selected candidate will join the CIRCE team at the CRBE. The CRBE is a joint research center (UMR) involving the CNRS, IRD, INP, and the University of Toulouse. The recruited person will join a research group working on peatland and soil ecology. They will benefit from a stimulating international environment, numerous interactions with other young researchers, and the possibility of field missions abroad as part of the MICE project."
