The work will be part of the European MadeIn4 project (framework: H2020), which focuses on the new metrological developments needed to meet tomorrow's micro / nanoelectronics industry's requirements.
The LTM's role in this project revolves around the use of a new 300mm surface characterization platform developed in recent years by the laboratory (EquipEx framework: Equipment of Excellence), combining 3 clusters of characterization at the forefront of each technique: pARXPS (parallel angular X ray spectrometry), broadband Ellipsometry (IR to UV) and high-end Raman (3 UV IR lasers). The compatibility of the platform with the 300mm wafers (with "mapping" functions) allows studies in direct link with the industrial sector.
The mission entrusted to the candidate will be to develop, evaluate and validate new concepts and innovative metrology solutions combining the data of several techniques (hybrid metrology).
The LTM's activity in this project will be in direct interaction with ST Microelectronics' metrology department in Crolles: regular meetings, common goal definitions, analysis of wafers directly from the ST clean room.
- Extensive use and advanced exploitation of the results coming from several characterization techniques : XPS, Raman, Ellipsometry …
- Work in CEA LETI clean rooms, with LTM tools
- Write deliverables for project reporting
- Publications (LTM / ST)
- Good knowledge in Materials Physic (Phd level)
- Good practice of several surface physico-chemical characterization techniques, especially Raman.
- Skills and wish for working in a mixed academic/ industrial environment
LTM is a 100 persons public academic research laboratory affiliated to the CNRS (National Center of Scientific Research) and UGA (Grenoble Alpes University) and hosted in Minatec campus- Grenoble (10.000 m2 clean rooms, 2400 Researchers, 1200 students et 600 industrials working in the field of micro and nanotechnologies).
The core positioning of LTM, based on a complementary approach between industrial and academic research as well as use of specific and homemade characterization tools, has allowed LTM researchers to develop a strong upfront expertise on metrology, in line with industry needs (Many industrial thesis, 300mm compatible advanced characterization facilities).
The laboratory has also access to LETI's clean room facilities, thus having partnerships with CEA-LETI, and work for years now in direct collaboration with several industrial companies (ST Microelectronics, Pfeiffer vacuum, AMAT) as well as full academic partners, in France and Europe.
A common Lab is formalized with ST Microelectronics.
