Job Description
Thesis Subject
Natural products are fundamental to the development of many compounds with pharmaceutical potential. Achieving their total synthesis is a crucial challenge, enabling the validation of their structure and ensuring a reliable supply for further biological studies. Quartromicins, isolated in limited quantities in 1991, are natural compounds exhibiting a broad antiviral spectrum against herpes, influenza, and HIV. These compounds, possessing a unique 32-membered macrocyclic structure containing four spirotetronate units, have attracted the attention of chemists, but despite several approaches, no total synthesis has yet been achieved. Within the framework of a collaborative ANR (French National Research Agency) project, we aim to achieve the total synthesis of these quartromicins
Your Work Environment
This project is part of an ANR (ANR-25-CE07-4308). The project aims at the development of a synthetic route for quartromicins D3. The work will take place at the ICSN site (Gif sur Yvette, France), (http://www.icsn.cnrs-gif.fr) which is a CNRS Research Unit whose research areas are chemistry and biology and which is part of the University Paris-Saclay
Constraints and risks
Occupational risks related to the activity of a chemical research laboratory. Required qualifications: - Master's degree in organic chemistry - Laboratory experience with multi-step synthesis - Language: French and minimum conversational level of English
