Description du sujet de thèse

The role of viral evolution and vaginal microbiota in the persistence and oncogenicity of genital HPV infections

Contexte de travail

As part of the evoHPV project, funded by the CNRS interdisciplinary mission, the PhD student will work on modeling, bioinformatics and molecular biology. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the French HPV National Reference Center (CNR). The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of genomic data and their analysis, as well as mathematical modeling and biology laboratory skills. Most of the data has already been generated by the CNR, and samples are available for sequencing as part of the PAPCLEAR clinical study. Knowledge of papillomaviruses and their implications for women's health will be a plus.

The CIRB is one of France's leading interdisciplinary research laboratories: https://www.college-de-france.fr/fr/recherche/centre-interdisciplinaire-de-recherche-en-biologie-cirb Within the laboratory, the Ecology and Evolution of Health (EEH) team is particularly interested in sexually transmitted infections and vaginal microbiota: https://www.college-de-france.fr/ecology-evolution-of-health This thesis will be carried out under joint supervision with several CNRS units.

The PhD student will be based in Paris under the direct supervision of Samuel Alizon (CIRB) and the co-supervision of Antoine Gross (IRIM, Montpellier), Ignacio G Bravo (MIVEGEC, Montpellier) and Jean-Luc Prétet (CNR HPV, Besançon). He or she will also interact regularly with other team members, both permanent and temporary, in particular through weekly meetings of the EEH team.

Contraintes et risques

The main constraints of this position are the working conditions, with supervisors in several cities (Paris, Montpellier and Besançon) and potential assignments in Montpellier to liaise with partner teams and carry out sample analyses.
