Description of the thesis topic
LTM develops news materials for MURATA through Nano2022 project. These materials are nanocomposites that percolate in order to target very high dielectric permittivity (>100). The purpose is to use these materials in Microelectronics facilities to obtain high voltage compatible MIM capacitors, capacitors that will be miniaturized. The objectives of the Phd are to address such high permittivity with nanocomposites while maintaining sufficiently low dielectric losses and high dieclectric breakdown voltages (>100 MV/m).
1 : Formulation of nanocomposites resin
•Surface functionnalization of nanoparticles
•Dispersion in a liquid resin and characterization (Viscosity, DLS, Sedimentation times)
•Optimization of the formulation
2 : Processability of nanocoposites films on Silicon
•Characterization of the film (Profilometry, Ellipsometry, SEM)
3 : Characterization of the dielectric properties of nancomposites films
•Fabrication of Metal/insulator/Metal capacitors (MIM)
•Measurement of the dielectric properties (Low and Medium Voltage) by spectroscopic impedancemeter
•Measurement of the Breakdown voltage (High Voltage)
-Theoretical background: Physics and chemistry of polymers, Functionalization of nanoparticles, Characterization technics for Thin layers, Impedance and dielectric properties of materials
-Technical knowhow: Chemistry, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
-Human knowhow: Dynamism, curious, Team working
The LTM is a joint research Lab CNRS/University Grenoble Alpes, with a total of 6 teams, 4 being research teams. Nighty persons are working at LTM. The lab is located at CEA-Grenoble, Grenoble, France.
The Phd position is open at the Advanced Lithography team of the LTM, team that develops first Lithography processes and specialized resin for Microelectronic partners and second Advanced characterizations technics for metrology and defectivity determination.
