Missions
Research assistant (engineer-level) position with Geoffrey Barrows, economist at CREST.
The assistant will take part in computing exposure indicators for coal-fired power plants in India and in carrying out econometric analyses.
The work sequence is as follows. First, the research assistant must become familiar with the HYSPLIT chemical transport model. This model makes it possible to track the trajectory of a particle from a given emission point to its destinations. Next, the research assistant will use the HYSPLIT model to calculate the exposure of different Indian villages to several coal power plants located in India. The data on the locations of the villages and coal plants will be provided. After calculating these exposure indicators, the research assistant will implement newly developed techniques that are robust to heterogeneity in order to estimate the effect of coal-based pollution on infant health.
Activités
The main activities consist of computing exposure indicators using the HYSPLIT model and carrying out the regression analysis.
The research assistant will also take part in creating tables and figures.
Finally, the research assistant will regularly attend workshops organized at CREST.
