Context 募集の背景 & プロジェクトの説明

The contract is offered within the framework of the J-InnovaTech ERC StG project which operates out of Europe's oldest center for Social science research on Japan and one of France's leading research unit dedicated to the study of East Asia (UMR 8173 -China-Korea-Japan).
The successful candidate will be supervised by Aleksandra Kobiljski, historian of technology and will be equipped to work on the of the project premises (54 boulevard Raspail, 75006 Paris). Successful candidate will join a dynamic research team bringing together and working with a network of some 30 senior, early-career scholars and doctoral students from Europe, the USA and Japan working the field of history of technology, economy, industry and environment broadly conceived. Joining the project implies standard benefits of French civil service.

While this project is not specifically about women's role in industry and economic development, it seeks to bring to light a more balanced understanding of entrepreneurship. The focus on factory labor in the historiography of Japan's industrialization has obscured women's role in early industry and entrepreneurs. This project seeks to address this issue. It is understood that sources on the role of women are less abundant and easily accessible. However, following methodological inspiration from recent developments in the global history of female entrepreneurship (Khan,2016, Aston & Bishop 2020), we are open to what can be found.

このプロジェクトは、産業や経済発展に関する女性の役割にのみ限定して分析するものではないが、企業家精神に対するバランスの取れた理解を目指している。日本の工業化の歴史的研究において、工場労働力には焦点が当てられてきたが、初期の工業化や企業家精神における女性の役割については、明確にされてこなかった。私たちのプロジェクトは、この問題を明らかにする試みである。女性の役割に関する資料が十分豊富でないことやそれへのアクセスが難しいことも、理解している。しかしながら、近年の世界経済史研究の進展から、女性の起業家精神に関する方法論的触発を受け(Khan 2016, Aston & Bishop 2020）、私たちは新たな知見を期待している。

Activities

- Role played by women in enduring family firms（cultivation and development of relationship and networks, invisible administrative labor/ intangible household production (running a home) by women in merchant households. Possibly with special attention to role of women in a time of crisis (natural disasters, financial stress, succession crisis etc)
ファミリービジネスの存続における女性の役割に関すること（関係性やネットワークを育て、発展させるなどの女性の役割、女性の有する目に見えない統治力、商家における女性の家計生産への無形の貢献など）。とりわけ、危機に瀕した場合（自然災害、金融不安、事業継承の危機など）における、女性の役割に注目する。

- Role played by women local entrepreneurs groups, precursors of 工業会議所/　商工業 and/or the regional entrepreneurial boom of early Meiji. The role of women in what Nakamura Naofumi called the regional industrial revolution.

- Produce synthesis notes on this research for the monthly project seminar
。 毎月のプロジェクトセミナーで、日本語で研究に関連する研究成果のまとめを作成する。

- Prepare and submit at least 1 research report per semester. 半期に1回、Discussion paper
を作成し、提出する。

- Develop 1 research reports into an article and submit to peer-reviewed journals.
研究論文を作成し (English or Japanese). Discussion Paper 2本のうち、1つは日本の学術雑誌に投稿するための研究論文にする。

Education Level : PhD 博士
採用時、あるいは2026年3月末日までに博士の学位を有する方（採用時に博士取得予定の場合は、指導教員の推薦状が必要）

Requirements 応募資格
Have a working grasp of the history of industry and technology in Japan 日本の産業・技術史の分野で研究を行ったことがある。
Have research experience in Japanese archives and source collections. 日本の史料館やアーカイブでの調査経験を持つ。
Ability to produce and revise scientific publications in French, English, or Japanese. 社会科学および人文科学分野の科学論文をフランス語、英語または日本語で作成し、執筆するスキルを有する。

Langages : English and Japanese (French competence not necessary)
仕事上で使う言語は日本語だが、英語もできると望ましい。フランス語の能力は、問わない。

Constraints and risks

Be able to work as part of an international research team. 仕事上で使う言語は日本語だが、英語もできると望ましい。
Ability to adapt to a multicultural environment. 異文化環境に適応する能力がある。

※ 本プロジェクトの趣旨に賛同し、日本またはフランス、あるいは両国において研究をされたい方。日仏での滞在日数並びにその他の研究活動等との時間配分は、相談に応じる。PDの経験は問わない。本研究を主とすることを条件に、自身の研究テーマ等を同国にて研究することを認める（詳細は雇用時に相談の上、決定）。

実質週４日勤務（１日は個人の研究プロジェクトに従事することが可能です）。　
このプロジェクトでは、日本での４ー６ヶ月の研究滞在を年間１回まで行うことが可能です。日本での非常勤講師の活動は、相談の上、並行して行うことが可能です。
