Job Description

Missions

The mesoscopic physics group at LPENS is offering a two-year contract for the recruitment of a postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will develop transport experiments to probe the properties of anyons, which are the elementary excitations of the fractional quantum Hall effect in two-dimensional conductors. The experiments will specifically aim to investigate the charge, scaling dimension, and statistics of anyons by studying the scattering of these excitations at a quantum point contact (QPC) acting as a partitioner of electrical currents.

Activity

This experimental research will rely on a combination of techniques, including current fluctuation measurements and the emission of sub-nanosecond pulses. Various fractional quantum Hall states will be studied, with a particular focus on probing even-denominator states. The research will primarily focus on gallium arsenide (GaAs) heterostructures, but an extension of these experiments to graphene is also envisioned. The candidate will also be involved in sample fabrication.

Your Profil

Skills

LPENS is seeking a candidate with experience in electronic transport in nanostructures at ultra-low temperatures, as well as in the nanofabrication of mesoscopic samples. The candidate will be expected to supervise PhD students working on the same experimental setup.

Your Work Environment

This position will be with the context of the mesoscopic physics team at LPENS. One PhD student will work on the project together with the post-doc.
