The physicist will work in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the CERN LHC) group at IP2I Lyon. He/she will play a key role in the major data analyses of the group in the Higgs sector, in final states including two photons: " The search for a second Higgs boson with a mass <125 GeV, the search for HH production in the bb gamma gamma final state, and the study of gg-->gamma gamma/gg-->H-->gamma gamma interference with the goal of constraining the Higgs boson mass. He/she will also contribute to the activities of the group in the area of the upgrade of the muon detection system, in particular improved Resistive Plate Chambers (iRPC), for which the group holds responsibility for the front-end readout electronics.
The principal activities of the person hired will be:
-Contributions to the data analyses of LHC Run 2 still in progress
-Preparation of these analyses for the exploitation of the LHC Run 3 data, including contributions to the commissioning and validation of a new analysis platform
-Important contribution to the supervision of doctoral and master students
-Contribution to the validation of the front-end readout boards for the iRPCs in beam test and under irradiation, and to the supervision of their production.
-Doctorate in experimental particle physics, with at most 2 years of postdoctoral experience.
-Significant experience in collider data analysis
-Mastery of relevant state-of-the-art programming languages and techniques, experience in the development and/or maintenance of data analysis platforms
-Previous experience in instrumentation would be desirable.
The candidate will work on-site at IP2I Lyon, with frequent trips to CERN, the sanitary situation permitting.
