Missions

The recruited person will contribute to the Eau'bservatoire project, which aims to better understand the dynamics of water consumption and use on Bordeaux university campuses. This project, funded by the ACT program of the University of Bordeaux, brings together expertise in human and social sciences and in engineering sciences. The recruited person's main mission will be to question and analyze the socio-spatial dynamics of water use and consumption through a multi-scalar and interdisciplinary approach. The person will have to structure and analyze the data collected, to propose innovative methodologies and to contribute to animating interdisciplinary and partnership collaborations, in order to promote better management of water resources in this context. The recruited researcher will have to develop a rigorous methodology for data collection and analysis, combining qualitative surveys, quantitative surveys, spatial modeling and actor dynamics. The recruited person will also have a central role in the co-construction of solutions with stakeholders, integrating an action research and scientific mediation dimension. Finally, particular attention will be paid to promoting the results through academic publications, but also through interactive visualization tools and dissemination actions aimed at campus managers and users.

Activités

- Conceptual and methodological analysis:
- Conduct a literature review on water governance and uses in academia.
- Define a multi-scale analytical framework integrating a cartographic approach
- Data collection and systematization:
- Collect and structure data from meter readings, qualitative surveys and field observations.
- Conduct spatial and cartographic analyses of water consumption.
- Interdisciplinary coordination and partnership facilitation: - Collaborate with teams in geography, hydrology, sociology and engineering.
- Organize working groups with researchers, managers and institutional stakeholders.
- Mediation, governance and dissemination of knowledge:
- Facilitate mediation and awareness-raising workshops on water management.
- Publish the results in the form of reports, scientific articles and communication materials.
- Propose recommendations to optimize water resource management on campuses.

Compétences

- Technical skills:
- Expertise in multi-scale territorial analysis and resource governance
- Mastery of GIS and mapping tools for water use analysis
- Experience in collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data

Contexte de travail

The position is integrated into UMR 5319 Passages (CNRS – Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux – Université Bordeaux Montaigne – Université de Bordeaux), a research unit in human and social sciences that studies territorial and environmental dynamics through an interdisciplinary approach. UMR Passages, which has approximately 80 permanent members and 45 doctoral students, collaborates with several institutions in France and internationally. The recruited person will work closely with UMR 5295 I2M - Institut de Mécanique et d'Ingénierie de Bordeaux (CNRS – Université de Bordeaux – Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers – Bordeaux INP – INRAE) to ensure the integration of technical and environmental dimensions in the analysis of water consumption. The recruited person will be under the direct supervision of a senior researcher and will actively participate in research meetings and transdisciplinary collaborations.
