Job Description

Missions

In a constantly moving industrial and academic context, marked by the miniaturization of systems and the heterogeneous integration of materials, micro transfer printing (MTP) is positioned as a key solution to meet the challenges of manufacturing ever more efficient devices.

Within Nanolyon platform at INL and in connection with the research groups, you will contribute to pushing the limits of this technology by working on innovative projects dealing with heterogeneous integration in connection with large-scale national programs and supporting potential users. Your work will focus in particular on:
• The optimization of transfer processes
• The development of new applications for MTP
• The characterization and modeling of interfaces and transferred materials
• The implementation of technology demonstrators
Furthermore, as the development of the technique is being carried out on a nanoimprinting lithography (NIL) equipment in Step & Repeat mode (NPS300), you will participate in its operation by training yourself in the technique to support the platform activities on this micro-nanotexturing of surfaces.

Activity

- To be trained on the equipments of the Nanolyon cleanroom facility (lithography/deposition/etching).
- Implement and develop technological processes in collaboration with researchers, doctoral students, postdocs working on the various projects involving NIL/MTP.
- Report and write up the experimental protocols at each technological step.
- Propose process improvements.
- Apply the rules of hygiene and safety.
- Provide technical and technological support to projects involving the NPS300 and participate in discussions regarding the various projects, particularly those involving the MTP.
- Participate in the discussions taking place on the Nanolyon platform.

Your Profil

Skills

The engineer will be responsible for developing the NIL nanoprinting and micro-transfer transfer (MTP) process on the NPS300 equipment of the INL. Since the MTP technology shares similar parameters to those of NIL and Flip-chip, the engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of experimental protocols, particularly those appropriate for MTP. The different steps to be implemented are:
- Preparation of the origin substrate: optimization of the elimination of the sacrificial layer.
- Optimization of polymer stamps: improvement of design and surface treatment.
- The study of the parameters on the NPS300 for transferring chips from the source substrate to the hosting substrate: temperature, pressure, duration, etc.

qualifications : Chemistry, Physics, Engineering

Skill : General knowledge of micro/nanofabrication methods and work experience in cleanroom environment is a must. The Research Engineer fellow must have backgrounds in chemistry, physical chemistry, materials science and processing, characterization techniques.

Your Work Environment

This position is located in an innovative environment, at the forefront of future technologies, in strategic application domains. This is part of the coordinated action on chip assembly and packaging of the AC-PAC of the Electronic PEPR and the PEPR Packaging Initiative, which aim to coordinate resources and expertise at the national level.
The engineer's work will focus on projects that require an MTP protocol for the heterogenous integration of devices with different materials, with the ultimate goal of stabilizing a technological pathway for heterogeneous integration in research projects related to these national programs. The engineer will also be involved in interactions with SET, the manufacturer of the NPS300.
Most of the work will be carried out at the Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon (INL), a joint CNRS research unit of INSA Lyon, Ecole Centrale de Lyon, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, and CPE Lyon. The technological research developed at INL is largely based on the Nanolyon technology platform, recognized at the national level and labeled as a regional center within the Renatech+ network (that is to say open to the local scientific community). The Nanolyon technology platform is organized around a Micro-Nano Fabrication Center (CMNF = cleanrooms distributed across the different laboratory sites) and specialized experimental units. The research engineer will mainly work within the CMNF at both sites: La Doua in Villeurbanne and ECL in Écully. He-she will work closely with the persons in charge of NPS300. Occasional travel is possible in connection with projects and programs. The research engineer will participate to the activities of animation of the Nanolyon platform in its local, regional and national context.

Constraints and risks

Working in cleanrooms: on-site workstation training
Chemical risk: awareness and prevention, on-site training, NEO qualification
Compulsory: PPE

Compensation and benefits

Compensation

From 3715 Euros gross per month, depending on experience

Annual leave and RTT

44 jours

Remote Working practice and compensation

Transport

Prise en charge à 75% du coût et forfait mobilité durable jusqu’à 300€
