Description du sujet de thèse
Context
The LSPM is a research laboratory of the CNRS and the University Sorbonne Paris Nord, specialized in innovative processes and materials. The team «Interaction Plasma –surface and micro plasmas» conducts fundamental and applied research on low-pressure and atmospheric cold-plasmas.
The thesis project is placed in the context of an ANR contract obtained whose objective is the analysis of microwave hydrocarbon plasmas used notably for the conversion of methane into hydrogen.
Thesis topic
The work will focus on: the theoretical and numerical understanding of microwave methane plasmas leading to the formation of carbon particles in order to master particle-plasma and microwave interactions and develop more efficient processes with strong industrial potential.
The objective will be to contribute to the understanding of physical mechanisms underlying these complex plasmas. The laboratory team has extensive experience in both experimental and modeling of this type of plasmas. Thus the candidate will have existing numerical tools that the candidate will need to improve. The thesis will also benefits from the experiments in order to validate the proposed model.
Profile of the candidate
• Master's student in physics, plasma physics, applied physics or related field
• Good knowledge of plasma physics, electromagnetism and/or experimental diagnostics
• Interest in theoretical research and/or modeling
• Analytical skills, autonomy, rigor and taste for teamwork
