Description du sujet de thèse

At the CNRS Futuroscope site, the Pprime Institute is recruiting a PhD student to work on study and development of propulsive systems, lifting devices and energy harvesters based on moving blades.

In the framework of constant or modulated circulation around moving airfoils, the PhD project aims at define and optimize blade kinematics in order to provide unsteady propulsive and lifting forces, or harvest flow energy. In particular, the optimization will be subject to constraints applied to the circulation value and dynamic stall phenomenon. A specific study on dynamic stall manipulation will also be conducted. Theoretical and numerical approaches will be carried out in order to develop the corresponding experimental demonstrators.

The doctoral student must have the following skills:
- knowledge of theoretical, numerical and experimental fluid mechanics,
- knowledge of applied mathematics.

The doctoral student must hold a Master 2 degree or an engineering degree.

Contexte de travail

The CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) is a public multidisciplinary research organisation under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, dedicated to advancing knowledge for the benefit of society.

The Institut Pprime is a UPR (Unité Propre de Recherche) of the CNRS in the fields of Physical Sciences and Engineering Sciences. Its activities cover a broad scientific spectrum, from the physics of materials to fluid and solid mechanics, mechanical engineering and energy.

The HydEE (Hydrodynamics and Environmental Flows) team works in the fields of fluid mechanics involving natural and industrial flows, linked to the environment, transport and energy. The team's researchers and lecturers apply their theoretical, numerical and experimental skills to the study of complex dynamic flows, the understanding of solid and fluid transport phenomena, and the rheological description of fluids.
The team's strong involvement in the development of numerical codes and experimental techniques and devices has led to its participation in numerous national and international projects, as well as numerous industrial collaborations.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
