Description du sujet de thèse
The PhD student will fabricate graphene-based samples in a cleanroom environment and perform low-temperature electronic transport measurements in the laboratory's cryostats.
Main tasks:
• Fabrication of a graphene sample encapsulated in hBN (hexagonal boron nitride).
• Electrical circuit fabrication using lithography techniques in a cleanroom.
• Low-temperature measurements in a cryostat.
• Analysis and dissemination of the obtained results.
• Writing of the PhD manuscript.
Expected skills:
• Background in quantum physics of condensed matter.
• Experience in fabrication of van der Waals heterostructures.
• Proficiency in cleanroom lithography techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional internal training may be offered to facilitate adaptation to the position.
Contexte de travail
The Néel Institute in Grenoble is one of the largest French national research institutes devoted to fundamental research in condensed matter physics, enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering, and biology.
The PhD student will join the Quantum Nano Electronics and Spectroscopy (QuNES) team, created in 2014, which includes four permanent researchers studying the transport properties of quantum nanoelectronic devices based on semiconductor nanostructures, van der Waals heterostructures of mono- and bilayer graphene, and superconducting junctions.
The team is well integrated in the laboratory, with several ongoing collaborations with other research groups.
The Institut NEEL is a CNRS laboratory. CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organisation.
The core mandate is to identify, carry out ou have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognised for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
