Description du sujet de thèse
Modeling and simulation of turbulent flames in distributed combustion using a hybrid RANS/LES approach.
Develop, implement, and test models for the numerical simulation of reactive turbulent flows in distributed combustion by combining large-eddy simulation (LES) and mean flow calculation (RANS) approaches to significantly reduce computational times.
Contexte de travail
The EM2C Laboratory (CNRS and Université Paris-Saclay/CentraleSupelec) is a dedicated research unit hosted by the Ecole CentraleSupelec, located in Gif-sur-Yvette, and is composed of 45 researchers, administrative and tecnical support and 45 doctoral students. Through its high-level academic research on energy and combustion and its applied studies in partnership with leading companies and research centers in the fields of transportation and energy, it contributes significantly to the advancement of knowledge on these critical issues, both for the climate and the environment. To address these challenges, the laboratory's research activities are organized around three axes: Combustion, Out-of-Equilibrium Plasma, Transfer Physics, and a cross-disciplinary action in Applied Mathematics. The doctoral student will be enrolled in the SMEMAG doctoral school (Mechanical and Energy Sciences, Materials and Geosciences) of the Paris-Saclay University. This thesis will focus on the development, implementation and validation of hybrid RANS / LES models for the numerical simulation of turbulent reactive flows.
