Description du sujet de thèse
Description of the PhD topic:
Many drugs are almost exclusively administered intravenously (IV), which presents serious limitations (e.g. patient discomfort, long hospital stays, need for trained staff, high cost, catheter failures, infections). Consequently, the development of effective drug delivery strategies that are less costly and more comfortable for the patient would revolutionize the treatment of many diseases.
Although subcutaneous administration could potentially meet these criteria (easy to perform, less costly, less invasive, etc.), it is extremely restrictive as it cannot be applied to many therapies.
In this thesis project, in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company MedinCell, we aim to develop innovative polymer-based strategies for the subcutaneous delivery of therapeutic molecules, in order to prolong their half-life, improve their bioavailability and increase the therapeutic efficacy of the treatment.
Expected skills:
The candidate must hold a Master 2 in organic or macromolecular or medicinal chemistry, or an engineering degree, with a solid grounding in formulation and pharmacology/drug delivery/nanomedicine. He/she must be highly motivated and creative, and have solid practical experience of laboratory research. An excellent level of English (written/oral) is essential.
Interested candidates should provide a detailed CV mentioning training/experience, practical and theoretical skills and a full list of publications (if any), a covering letter, and the contact details of at least one academic referee - preferably two or three.
Contexte de travail
The project will be developed within the framework of a CIFRE thesis with the company MedinCell.
The PhD thesis will be carried out mainly at the Institut Galien Paris-Saclay (Orsay, campus du Moulon, https://www.institut-galien.universite-paris-saclay.fr/), on the new campus of the Université Paris-Saclay, in the new Henri Moissan building, and will benefit from a first-rate academic and research infrastructure, while evolving in a rich and scientifically stimulating environment. The IGPS is a joint research unit (UMR 8612) of the CNRS and the Université Paris-Saclay, developing original and innovative research in the fields of micro- and nanotechnologies applied to drugs and diagnostics in the healthcare sector.
The thesis will be supervised by Dr. Julien NICOLAS (https://julien-nicolas.cnrs.fr/)
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
