Description du sujet de thèse
In the context of the team's work on the optics of complex media, we are interested in the use of multiple scattering as an interesting mathematical operation for various applications in artificial intelligence: multiplication by a high-dimensional random matrix. We have already carried out several proofs of principle, ranging from image classification to chaotic time series prediction, or Ising model simulations.
We are now looking to go further and introduce new features, in particular the possibility of introducing trainable parameters into the system, or effective non-linearities. The predominantly experimental subject of this thesis will be to develop a new optical experiment in this direction, and to study the possibility of obtaining a computational advantage on a variety of artificial intelligence tasks.
Contexte de travail
The work will be carried out in the "Optics in Complex Environments" team and as part of a multi-partner project with ETH Zurich and EPFL.
