Job Description
Thesis Subject
The PhD candidate role is to develop a new theme around mid-infrared hybrid optoelectronic devices. The objective of the project is the realization of modelocking in mid-infrared cascade lasers operating between between 3 μm to 5 μm, using new 2D materials such as PtSe2 as saturable absorbers. This objective will be achieved through an integrated geometry where all these properties are realised on-chip resulting in a miniature modelocked source for applications such as ultra-sensitive detection of environmental and industrial gases.
The thesis will be built around the activities below:
- Development of ultra-fast experiments to characterize and understand the dynamics of the new hybrid 2D material-laser devices.
- Compare theoretical and experimental results.
- Carry out new experiences and develop new devices from models
- Prepare scientific articles and participate in congresses and conferences
Your Work Environment
-This work will be funded by the ANR “2D-IR-Power” project coordinated by Sukhdeep Dhillon. The work will be carried out in the LPENS nanoTHz team and will be part of the team's research activities around the ultrafast properties of optoelectronic devices.
