Job Description
Thesis Subject
The PhD thesis will focus on the unresolved complexities in the theoretical description of electronic transport properties in strongly correlated materials, an area where even the most advanced theoretical frameworks fall short. These materials, known for their anomalous transport phenomena, starkly deviate from conventional band theory predictions for normal metals, often displaying "strange metal" behavior and various ordered states induced by complex many-body effects. The primary goal of the PhD thesis is to develop a robust, comprehensive theoretical framework that accurately replicates experimental measurements and allows for precise interpretation of experimental results. This advanced approach will surpass existing theoretical models by incorporating spatial collective electronic fluctuations and non-local multi-electron scattering processes, which are essential for accurately describing and predicting transport properties in correlated materials. The framework will enable direct comparison with experimental results, bridging the gap between theory and experiment.
Your Work Environment
The CPHT is a joint research unit (UMR 7644) of CNRS and Ecole Polytechnique. The CPHT at Ecole Polytechnique gathers research scientists working in diverse domains of fundamental and applied Physics. The PhD student will be integrated in the Condensed Matter group at CPHT.
