Job Description
Thesis Subject
Group actions on surfaces, between dynamics and algebraic structures. The aim of this thesis is to study the relationship between the fine cuve graph (of Bowden, Hensel and Webb), dynamical invariants of surface homeomorphisms (rotation set, entropy) and the rigidity of group actions imposed by their algebraic structure.
Your Work Environment
The doctoral student will work in the group of Kathryn Mann in the Analyse Complexe and Géométrie group at IMJ-PRG, Sorbonne University. A grant from INSMI CNRS in the program for international thesis projects allows the student to spend about 1 month per year in Uruguay in collaboration with Alejandro Passeggi and the dynamics group at the Universidad de la República in Montevideo
