Description du sujet de thèse

The Center for Medical Biological Magnetic Resonance (CRMBM) conducts translational research by developing, applying methods, magnetic resonance instruments with the aim of exploring the morphology, metabolism, physiology of human pathologies, and associated animal models. The PhD student (F/M) will be linked to a CRMBM project dedicated to the application of innovative multiparametric MRI methods, in particular using 7T MRI and its ultra-high magnetic field to improve the spatial, temporal, biological accuracy of imaging subcortical brain structures, funded by the ANR. The PhD project is integrated into the "Translational Neuroscience - Clinical Applications" research line of the Central Nervous System team. He will focus on the characterization of brain changes in patients with focal epilepsy.

Contexte de travail

The PhD student (M/F) will use MRI data to study brain changes in patients with focal epilepsy. He will particularly focus on structural and functional changes related to subcortical structures (e.g., thalamic nuclei), how they may be related to patients' behavioral and clinical phenotypes. During the doctoral period, the candidate will be expected to:
Contribute to scientific projects related to the study of focal epilepsy
Analyze 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla MRI data to extract MRI biomarkers
Present results at meetings with clinical collaborators, as well as at (inter)national scientific meetings.
Publish your results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Participate in the supervision of Master's students.
