Description du sujet de thèse
The PhD student will be involved in the development and benchmarking of photoelectrodes in collaboration with INL. Photocathodes will be generated at INL by molecular beam epitaxy and protected in-situ with a SrTiO3 overlayer, while photoanodes will be produced at IRCELYON. The PhD student will be in charge of efficiently integrating these photoelectrodes with appropriate electrocatalysts developed at IRCELYON. Furthermore, she/he will perform the benchmarking of photoelectrochemical performances inside a dedicated setup under a range of parameters (pH, illumination, temperature, concentration, etc.). To help optimize the materials, in-situ and operando spectroscopy measurements (Raman, XPS, FT-IR, XAS, UV-Vis, THz…) will be performed at IRCELYON, and at synchrotron facilities (SOLEIL, ESRF, MAX IV…), and the PhD student will have the opportunity to carry them out. Finally, the student will be in charge of the creation and operation of a lab-scale PEC demonstrator (25 cm² active area), with the help of resources (materials, mechanical and electrical workshops…) at IRCELYON and INL.
