Thesis Subject
Desymmetrization of phosphonic acids
Phosphorus chemistry plays a central role in biochemistry and medicinal chemistry, particularly in nucleotides and bioactive compounds. However, the stereochemical control of phosphorus centers remains a major challenge, as current methods are often poorly selective or rely on approaches involving chiral auxiliaries. The development of catalytic strategies, particularly organocatalytic ones, is therefore a key challenge for obtaining stereopure compounds of biological interest.
Your Work Environment
The project will take place within the ChemBioNAC laboratory at IBMM (University of Montpellier – CNRS – ENSCM). The laboratory is equipped for organic synthesis and analysis by chiral HPLC. Other analyses (NMR, mass spectrometry) are carried out at the Balard Institute's analytical platform, located in the same building.
Experimental work will be conducted in compliance with chemical safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment. No additional specific measures are required.
The PhD student will be integrated into the group's activities (seminars, meetings), promoting scientific exchange. Progress will be monitored through an individual monitoring committee (CSI) and progress reports, in accordance with the requirements of the doctoral school.
During the PhD, the student will participate in international conferences to present their work either through oral presentations or posters.
