Description du sujet de thèse
Context:
The effects of global change and extreme events on temperate forests are complex and require integrated research and management approaches. The adaptation and resilience of these ecosystems are essential to ensure their persistence in the future. Identifying the thresholds and tipping points beyond which temperate forests, such as the Fontainebleau Forest, could undergo irreversible change is essential to developing effective management strategies.
Mission:
The specific aim of the thesis will be to answer the question of the long-term climatic and biological history of the Fontainebleau forest and its projection under conditions evolving with global change. We propose to measure and anticipate the impact of climate change on ecosystems, and to consider how they will adapt to these changes, while questioning the management and adaptation strategies put in place to deal with them.
One original way of approaching this type of question is to look to the past, in order to understand how the climate has varied over time and how species have, or have not, adapted to it.
