Stratégie d'établissement

Autonomous and interactive systems were one of the thematic priority areas of focus for 2019-2023 COP in the digital domain, addressing issues related to the development of new approaches that more closely integrate the interactions of autonomous systems with humans. These range from physical or cognitive interaction and shared co-decision, to the consideration of behavioral factors, which remains the subject of numerous open problems. The underlying issues also align broadly with the major societal challenges of "Artificial Intelligence" and "Territories of the Future".

Stratégie du laboratoire d'accueil

The LAMIH (Laboratoire d'Automatique, de Mécanique et d'Informatique Industrielles et Humaines) is a joint research unit between the Université Polytechnique Hauts de France (UPHF) and the CNRS, specialized in transportation and human mobility: non-polluting vehicles, intelligent transportation, driving assistance, eco-driving, embedded systems development, structural lightweighting, transport logistics, mobility for all, smart mobility.
The HEUDIASYC laboratory (HEUristique et DIAgnostic des SYstèmes Complexes), a joint UTC-CNRS unit, conducts research in the field of information and digital sciences, including computer science, control engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Its scientific project includes mobility and transportation, through the development of embedded systems to increase the autonomy of mobile robots, operating in open and complex environments, capable of interacting with human operators or engaging in mutual interaction with other robots. It also relies on a joint laboratory with Renault since 2017.

Stratégie Internationale

The CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) welcomes and recruits researchers internationally. Over 30% of the recruited individuals come from abroad. This recruitment will have the same ambition.

Résumé du projet scientifique

The general objective of this project is to strengthen CNRS activities in the field of robotics, control engineering, and AI for autonomous systems interacting with humans, with two main research axes: (1) Developing new control approaches and architectures for autonomous vehicles taking into account human aspects, including the development of observers and estimators exploiting available data, and (2) Learning driving situations to adapt to driver preferences and constraints and enhance human driving capabilities in complex environments to improve safety and facilitate driving (especially for professional drivers, aging individuals, or those with reduced mobility) using technologies from robotics, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence.
Perception and understanding of situations in open and dynamic environments, as well as vehicle uncertainty management and integrity, are major challenges addressed in this project, aiming to strengthen excellence laboratories in the field.

Résumé du projet d'enseignement

The activities of the person recruited will be part of the educational initiatives of the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) and the Université Polytechnique Hauts de France (UPHF) through their specialized teaching programs in the field of science and technology.

Diffusion scientifique

The dissemination of the results will be done through world-class scientific productions: publications, patents, software... In addition, the results will be communicated to various targets such as scientific communities, media, decision makers, general public, schools, etc., with an adapted calendar. Specific tools may be developed such as websites, newsletters, meetings, international symposia, summer schools and conferences.

Science ouverte

The CNRS is developing a strong policy in favor of open science. Open science consists of making research results "as accessible as possible and closed as necessary". As such, the CNRS aims to make 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its laboratories accessible , in particular through deposit in HAL. The data produced must also be made available and reusable, except for specific restrictions. In addition, the guiding principles of individual evaluation have been revised in accordance with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take into account all facets of the researcher's profession.

Science et société

The relationship between science and society is now recognized as a full dimension of scientific activity. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all the partners. The resulting research work will contribute to informing public decision-making. Participatory science initiatives may be initiated with actors from the project’s socio-economic and cultural eco-system.

Indicateurs

The activity will be evaluated in particular on the basis of scientific production (publications, software, patents, etc.), on institutional and private partnerships formalized by contracts, on international presence, on the promotion of work to multidisciplinary scientific communities, on innovation and its transfer to society and on scientific dissemination to non-specialist audiences.
