Stratégie d'établissement

The profile of this professorship is in line with the priority areas of the CNRS, supporting the Research Program “Mathematics in Interaction, for Life, the Environment and Society,” as well as the theme “Disordered Systems.” Present in the Objectives, Resources, and Performance Contract signed by CNRS. The professorship's themes are linked to many fields of mathematics, such as analysis, probability, statistics, and artificial intelligence, and are also very present in other sciences such as biology, ecology, and medicine.
This professorship would enhance the visibility of the CNRS and its host institution, positioning it as a key player in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research. It would promote collaboration between mathematicians, biologists, and physclinicians, thereby building bridges between disciplines. It would also enable the training of a new generation of scientists capable of working navigating between these fields, responding to the growing challenges of the life sciences.

Stratégie du laboratoire d'accueil

The proposed units research all have active and dynamic teams working in the proposed areas. The successful candidate will strengthen the unit's research activities.

Stratégie Internationale

The objective of this tenure track position is to recruit an internationally recognized young figure with strong potential for mentoring young French and foreign students. It will also aim to strengthen and develop links with international partners.

Résumé du projet scientifique

CPJ offers unique potential for the development of high-level mathematics and innovative interdisciplinary research, in order to explore complex issues where mathematical tools can provide accurate and effective solutions, such as understanding the collective behavior of cells, the dynamics of epidemics, neural networks, the respiratory system, or tumor growth.
In medicine, mathematics contributes, through modeling/analysis/simulation, to the understanding of living systems and improves diagnostics and treatments through the analysis of biomedical data (machine learning, image reconstruction algorithms).
In biology, mathematics plays a crucial role in modeling biological systems (cell interactions, ecosystems). These tools provide a better understanding of biological processes at different scales, from molecules to organisms or entire ecosystems.

Résumé du projet d'enseignement

The successful candidate will be involved in high-level teaching with a specialization in mathematics. He or she may be required to offer interdisciplinary courses in the professorship's areas of expertise.

Environnement Financier

  • Total financé (dont package ANR) : 200 k€
  • Total du projet : k€

Diffusion scientifique

The dissemination of the results will be done through world-class scientific productions: publications, patents, software... In addition, the results will be communicated to various targets such as scientific communities, media, decision makers, general public, schools, etc., with an adapted calendar. Specific tools may be developed such as websites, newsletters, meetings, international symposia, summer schools and conferences.

Science ouverte

The CNRS is developing a strong policy in favor of open science. Open science consists of making research results "as accessible as possible and closed as necessary". As such, the CNRS aims to make 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its laboratories accessible , in particular through deposit in HAL. The data produced must also be made available and reusable, except for specific restrictions. In addition, the guiding principles of individual evaluation have been revised in accordance with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take into account all facets of the researcher's profession.

Science et société

The relationship between science and society is now recognized as a full dimension of scientific activity. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all the partners. The resulting research work will contribute to informing public decision-making. Participatory science initiatives may be initiated with actors from the project’s socio-economic and cultural eco-system.

Indicateurs

The activity will be evaluated in particular on the basis of scientific production (publications, software, patents, etc.), on institutional and private partnerships formalized by contracts, on international presence, on the promotion of work to multidisciplinary scientific communities, on innovation and its transfer to society and on scientific dissemination to non-specialist audiences.
