Missions
This position is part of a cutting-edge project focused on the development of coarse-grained computational cell models, which will be integrated into the Smooth Dissipative Particle Dynamics (SDPD) simulation method. These models aim to capture cellular responses under various mechanical stimuli and will be calibrated using experimental data (AFM, optical tweezers, particle-tracking microrheology, etc.), atomistic simulations, and machine-learned potentials.
Activités
- Design and develop coarse-grained cell models to capture their essential mechanical and structural properties.
- Develop and implement advanced particle-based simulation methods, such as Smooth Dissipative Particle Dynamics (SDPD), coupled with external mechanical stimulations.
- Perform large-scale simulations using the developed cell models and computational techniques.
- Validate and calibrate simulation results using experimental data to optimize model parameters and ensure biological relevance.
- Analyze simulation outcomes to study the mechanical response of cells to external stimuli and identify underlying biophysical mechanisms.
- Collaborate closely with experimental researchers to ensure coherent integration between modeling and experiments.
Compétences
Skills
- PhD (obtained within the last two years) in theoretical/computational physics or theoretical/computational chemistry
- Good knowledge of molecular dynamics simulation
- Good programming skills, especially in Fortran, C, or C++
Expertise
- Design and implement appropriate simulation protocols
- Analyze, interpret, and synthesize results rigorously
- Write scientific articles for international peer-reviewed journals
Personal qualities
- Innovation ability, rigor, and reliability in task execution
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate scientifically
Contexte de travail
The work will be carried out within the UPR 9080 CNRS laboratory, the "Laboratory of Theoretical Biochemistry," at the Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique in Paris (www-lbt.ibpc.fr). This laboratory, located in the heart of the Latin Quarter, has just over 30 members, including 14 permanent researchers. The postdoctoral researcher will have access to the computing resources of GENCI as well as those of the LBT. The working language of the laboratory is English; proficiency in French is not required. The project will be supervised by Dr. Phuong Nguyen and Prof. Philippe Derreumaux. For more information, please contact: phuong.nguyen@ibpc.fr and philippe.derreumaux@ibpc.fr.
