Missions
The postdoctoral fellow (M/F) will be part of the Self-assembly of Glycopolymers (A2G) team at the Centre de Recherches sur les Macromolécules Végétales (CERMAV) in Grenoble. He/she will work under the supervision of Dr. Sami HALILA as part of a European M-ERA.NET project associating a Polish team expert in brain-implantable electrodes to treat neurodegenerative diseases and a Turkish industry specialized in the production of biomaterials. This scientific project aims to compatibilize a metal-free electrode in the brain environment and to promote neuronal growth through a bioinspired approach.
Activités
The postdoctoral fellow (M/F) will contribute in particular to the synthesis of carbohydrate derivatives with the ability to self-assemble to form supramolecular hydrogels. The multi-scale characterization of these series of sugar derivatives as well as the determination of rheological properties will be an important part of the activities of the recruited agent. Supervision of interns/doctoral students in support of this research will be carried out. Writing of reports and presentations of the work during monthly meetings and, where appropriate, scientific articles and/or patents.
Compétences
Candidates (M/F) must have a PhD in organic chemistry (preferably in glycochemistry) and/or supramolecular chemistry and research skills demonstrated by at least one publication related to the project's themes. Additional knowledge in rheology would be a plus. Other essential criteria for this position are a good knowledge of organic molecule characterization techniques, an ability to supervise interns and good writing skills. Finally, due to the nature of the project's international collaboration, a good command of spoken and written English at level C1 is required, as well as the ability to work in a team.
Contexte de travail
The project is part of a European project between France, Poland and Turkey aimed at designing an all-organic and biocompatible electrode implantable in the brain. The post-doc will be located at the Centre de Recherches sur les Macromolécules Végétales (UPR-CNRS 5301) in Grenoble, which is a CNRS unit, affiliated with the University of Grenoble Alpes, world-renowned for its expertise in the field of glycosciences in all its aspects (Materials, Self-assembled systems, Macromolecular and supramolecular gels, Biology, Microbiology, Glycochemistry). The person will be supervised by Dr. Sami HALILA from the A2G team, which is interested in the self-assembly phenomena of glycoamphiphiles in dilute, concentrated or solid state media to form glyco-nano-objects for various applications. The team, and more generally the Unit, has all the human and material resources necessary to carry out the proposed project.
