Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the ASTRID ProCoPe project (Collective Processes for Power Components), led by the III-V Lab, which aims to fabricate power components with diamond heat sinks, based on Gallium Nitride (GaN), and to develop an optoelectronic process for 980 nm high-power diamond laser diodes. In this context, the role of the LSPM is to provide polycrystalline diamond layers 2 to 4 inches in diameter with optimized mechanical, morphological, and thermal properties. Working with the other project participants, the postdoctoral researcher will be specifically responsible for developing synthesis processes to achieve the desired properties on different types of substrates.

Activités

The postdoctoral researcher will ensure the smooth running of the project by participating in the various planned tasks:
- Synthesize diamond wafers by microwave plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (MPACVD);
- Optimize the synthesis on the different types of substrates used;
- Develop substrate preparation protocols designed to promote the adhesion of diamond layers and control thermal resistance at the interface;
- Operate new synthesis reactors for the production of 3- to 4-inch diamond wafers;
- Characterize the coatings produced from a physicochemical point of view (Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, etc.);
- Participate in progress meetings and report writing.

Compétences

Skills :
- Knowledge of materials processing techniques, particularly microwave plasma-assisted CVD techniques;
- Knowledge of characterization techniques: Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, etc.;
- Knowledge of vacuum techniques and synthesis frameworks;
- Skills and experience in polishing would be an asset.

Personal Qualities:
- Ability to work in a team;
- Initiative and autonomy in work;
- Organizational skills;
- Ability to follow instructions and specifications;
- Flexibility and adaptability.

Contexte de travail

The work will be carried out at the Laboratory of Process and Materials Sciences, CNRS LSPM UPR3407, on the Villetaneuse campus (Sorbonne Paris Nord University). The postdoctoral researcher will be integrated into the PPANAM (Plasma Processes, Nanostructures and Thin Films) research axis and more specifically into the DMC (Diamond and Carbon Materials) research team. He.she will interact, as needed, with the project partners III-V Lab, XLIM, and Thales R&T.
