Missions
The Postdoctoral position at the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI) - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Grenoble, in experimental solid-states physics. The research activities will comprise magneto-optical experiments on novel semimetal and semiconductor materials, further details below.
Activities
The activities include the support of external users as well as a, in-house research program in the field of electronic and optical properties of new materials (in particular 2D and quasi-2D materials, topological matter), in accordance with the scientific interests of the Semiconductor and Nanophysics group of the LNCMI-G. The support of external users (carrying out particular experiments under intense magnetic field) can include work during the night and/or weekend.
Skills
Magneto-optical spectroscopy in the infrared and/or visible spectral range (FTIR, absorption, reflectivity luminescence, absorption, Raman scattering, FTIR), solid knowledge in condensed-matter physics (semiconductors & semimaterials).
Work Context
The successful candidate will be embedded within the Semiconductor and Nanophysics group (consisting of 10 members at the moment) and is expected to collaborate closely with the permanent research staff, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students of the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Grenoble (LNCMI). The LNCMI is a host laboratory for experiments in high dc magnetic fields (currently up to 37T). The scientific activities of the laboratory involve both in house and collaborative research. ThePage 4 sur 5 access to high-magnetic-field facilities is possible after submission of experiment proposals and their selection by an international committee. The LNCMI in Grenoble is also member of the European
Magnetic Field Laboratory. The candidate successful will thus have a chance to learn about physics in high magnetic fields in the European and word-wide context.
Constraints and risks
The support of external users (carrying out particular experiments under intense magnetic field) includes night and/or weekend work.
