Job Description

Missions

Implementation and use of RNA-seq and RIP-seq data analysis methods to study the functions of plant lncRNAs.

Activity

* Set up NGS data analysis pipelines (RNA-seq and RIP-seq)
* Compare transcriptome and RIP-seq data across species
* Analyze results in terms of evolutionarily conserved functions
* Ensure compliance with FAIR principles in computational procedures

Your Profil

Skills

* Doctoral-level expertise in RNA biology (essential)
* Bioinformatics tools and concepts for NGS data analysis (genome/transcriptome/interactome)
* Proficiency in Python and R
* Proficiency with at least one workflow management system
* Good bioinformatics practices
* English level B1
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Curiosity and dynamism
* Ability to manage numerous interactions and work on diverse projects

Your Work Environment

As part of an ANR-funded project with the Plant Sciences Institute Paris-Saclay (IPS2), we study plant lncRNA functions at the molecular level (roles in splicing and protein binding) and at the biological level (role in drought resistance). For this purpose, we will generate RIP-seq data for several lncRNAs and RNA-seq data for 10 plant species. We will use conventional bioinformatics approaches as well as k-mer–based methods to study the conservation of recognition motifs in regions that are globally non-conserved.

I2BC is a large molecular and cellular biology institute located in a pleasant environment 25 km from Paris (Gif-sur-Yvette). Our team (Computational Genome Biology) is part of the Genome Biology Department. The local bioinformatics environment is very rich, with discussion forums, seminars and training courses in bioinformatics, a bioinformatics platform, and a high-performance computing center.
