Missions
The post-doctoral researcher will participate in a new research project on turbulent flows inside precessing spheres which is aimed at (i) reduced modeling of forces on solid particles in a variety of turbulent flow situations and (ii) at a fundamental understanding of these turbulent flows on the parameters defining them.
Activities
She/he will participate in the experimental side of the project by contributing to (i) Particle Image velocimetry and Particle Tracking Velocimetry measurements and (ii) various ways to analyse the data obtained for various types of turbulent flows inside precessing spheres.
Skills
We seek an experimental fluid dynamicist with a PhD in a turbulent flow area, expertise in measurement and data analysis techniques, in particular Particle Image Velocimetry and/or Particle Tracking Velocimetry, and good understanding of at least some aspects of turbulence theory. The candidate will (a) participate in the design and implementation of experiments on turbulence in a precessing sphere, (b) manage the organisation of these experiments, (c) independently carry out quantitative data analysis (d) present results obtained, (f) participate in writing manuscripts for publication of results.
Work Context
The post-doctoral research will be a member of the turbulence group of the LMFL. She/he will be supported by the experimental, computational and theoretical experts of the group which is very well equiped in terms of experimental facilities and flow measurement capabilities.
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
Constraints and risks
The candidate will work with lasers.
