Missions

This work is part of the VISA project (Virus Self-Assembly, from test tube to cell cytoplasm), funded by the ANR and the NSF (France/USA). This is a multidisciplinary project involving theoretical physicists, experimentalists, and biophysicists. The researcher hired will focus on understanding the role of viscosity/molecular crowding on the time-course of viral particle assembly, either in reconstituted systems or in the cytoplasm of cells, using dynamic optical microscopy techniques such as SPT-PALM and FCS.

Activity

Perform FCS measurements in solutions and in the cytoplasm.
Perform spt-PALM measurements in the cytoplasm.
Produce, purify, and label capsid proteins.
Analyze the results and share them with the team and the consortium.
Develop and/or use Python/Matlab code for numerical simulation.

Your Work Environment

The postdoc will be part of the MDVA team at IRIM, which consists of 10 members (2 principal investigators, 1 researcher, 1 engineering assistant, 4 PhD students, and 2 postdocs). He or she will have access to the MRI platform for microscopy (SMLM, FCS, etc.), a protein production and purification platform, and a BSL-2 laboratory for cell culture. Supervision in the lab is provided by a biophysicist, with support from virologists.
The position falls under the Scientific and Technical Potential Protection (PPST) program and therefore, in accordance with regulations, requires that your appointment be approved by the competent authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
