Job Description

Missions

The recruited researcher will experimentally investigate quantum transport and its links with topology in Floquet systems realized with ultracold atomic gases. The project will use a potassium Bose–Einstein condensate subjected to pulsed optical potentials that are periodically modulated in order to realize effective Hamiltonians inspired by the quantum kicked rotor and the physics of disordered systems.
A central objective will be to explore how the introduction of an effective spin-orbit coupling and controllable interactions modifies Anderson-type dynamical localization phenomena. The recruited researcher will in particular seek to identify experimental signatures of out-of-equilibrium topological transport and to determine the role of correlations in these dynamics in reduced geometry.

Activity

The recruited researcher will participate in experimental activities using a potassium Bose–Einstein condensate. They will implement sequences of pulsed optical potentials that are periodically modulated in order to realize Floquet systems in quasi-one-dimensional geometry and effective momentum-space lattices.
They will perform measurements of atomic dynamics, momentum-space propagation, localization/delocalization, and spin-dependent dynamics. They will contribute to the control of interactions via Feshbach resonances, to the acquisition and analysis of experimental data, and to their comparison with numerical simulations and theoretical models developed in collaboration with the project partners.
