Job Description
Missions
The recruited agent will be responsible for carrying out the characterizations of specialty optical fibers that are developed within the FiberTech Lille platform of the University of Lille. The mission will consist in implementing different types of optical sources, optical and opto-mechanical systems, detectors or imaging systems, in order to analyze the optical properties of specialty fibers according to an established protocol. The recruited agent must first prepare and condition the optical fibers to allow their study.
Activity
The recruited agent will be responsible for:
- Implement experimental devices allowing the analysis of linear properties (losses, dispersion, birefringence, modal properties, etc.), non-linear properties (Raman, Brillouin, etc.), absorption/emission properties (luminescent fibers doped with rare-earth ions) or the amplifying properties of optical fibers
- Implement preparation methods (stripping, cleaving, splicing) to study the properties of optical fibers of different types
- Format the recorded data and formalize the results of the analyzes in a laboratory notebook and in the form of a report
- Participate in the technical monitoring and maintenance of fiber characterization equipment
Your Profil
Skills
The skills required for the position are:
- Have theoretical and practical knowledge in Optics
- Have theoretical and practical knowledge of optical fibers and their properties
- Have practical knowledge in the handling and characterization of optical fibers
- Master technical English in the field of metrology and optical characterization techniques
Your Work Environment
This offer relates to the recruitment, for a period of 12 months, of an engineer within the Physics of Lasers, Atoms and Molecules (PhLAM) laboratory. In practice, this position relates to the characterization of the optical properties (linear or non-linear guiding properties, absorption/emission properties, amplifying properties, etc.) of conventional or micro-structured optical fibers produced within the FiberTech Lille preform. The optical fibers studied will be used in particular within the framework of the research activities of the PhLAM Photonics team.
