Missions

The objective of the postdoctoral researcher will be to develop electronics and build new millimeter wave high resolution spectrometers of gas phase species, particularly in purpose built stabilized frequency sources with very low phase noise for millimeter wave spectroscopy.

Activités

-Develop and integrate stable microwave frequency sources and associated electronics
-Integrate them with a Fourier transform emission spectrometer
-Program the various components to work together
-Communication of results through posters, presentations, and articles

Compétences

We are looking for very experienced (10 years+) PhD researcher in Physics, Chemistry or related fields who has vast experience in developing and producing electronics for millimeter wave spectroscopic purposes. Project management, independent management of electronics projects, and extensive experience with millimeter wave spectroscopy is required. Communication in English is required.

Contexte de travail

New forms of spectroscopy need to be used to search for interesting physical phenomena and astrochemical species. Stable electronics and spectroscopic sources are needed to achieve to move in this direction, with custom built spectrometers.
The research will be carried out at Laboratory of Physics of Lasers, Atoms, and Molecules (PhLAM) within the Molecular Physics at Interfaces (MPI) team. This is an international team that carries out research with applications to environmental sciences, laboratory astrophysics, biology, medicine, plasmas, and materials (https://phlam.univ-lille.fr/en/recherche/pmi). This work will be carried out at the Université de Lille. The city of Lille is located in North France, near the border of Belgium with direct train routes to three European capitals (Brussels, London, Paris).
