Missions
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the VISOPEC project in Lille, France. VISOPEC (Versatile Integrated Supercontinuum Sources Using Nonlinear Optical Pulse Compression) addresses a critical challenge in developing fully integrated supercontinuum optical sources for telecommunications wavelengths.
This groundbreaking initiative employs advanced machine learning techniques tailored to nonlinear light propagation to enable the generation of on-chip supercontinuum spectra using compact picosecond (ps) pump lasers. The innovative approach combines a pulse compressor and supercontinuum generator into a single silicon nitride (SiN) photonic circuit by optimizing the longitudinal dispersion and nonlinear properties of waveguides.
The project is a collaborative effort between three renowned research institutions—C2N, PHLAM, and XLIM— is funded by the ANR (French research agency) and brings together unique expertise in:
• Design-by-learning for nonlinear optics,
• Ultra-fast pulse source management (fs/ps),
• Photonic circuit fabrication.
Key Objectives
1. Pioneer machine learning-driven optical pulse compression and coherent supercontinuum generation.
2. Develop novel photonic designs that integrate these processes into compact, high-performance circuits.
3. Demonstrate broadband, integrated supercontinuum and frequency comb sources powered by compact ps pulse-emitting lasers.
4. Deliver adaptable machine learning methodologies and tools for advancing integrated mode-locked ps pump laser technologies.
