Missions
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced post-doc interested in working on the basic mechanisms of translation in bacteria, and more specifically on the role of mRNA cis-elements in this process.
Activités
The person to be recruited will study the translational control of gene expression in the Escherichia coli model bacterium, focusing on secondary structures within some mRNAs that activate translation. This analysis will be performed both on known and predicted activating structures.
Compétences
The person to be recruited should hold a PhD degree in biology and have at least 2 years experience after the PhD. A solid expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology and RNA biochemistry is required. Good communication in English is necessary.
Contexte de travail
The person to be recruited will work under the direction of Maude Guillier and will join the group « RNA control of gene expression » within the CNRS unit UMR8261. He/she will interact with all members of the group (3 permanent and 3 non-permanent persons at the moment). This team is part of the CNRS unit « Microbial Gene Expression » of the « Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique », located in the center of Paris.
Contraintes et risques
Chemical and biological risks associated with the experimental work in bacteriology and molecular biology; possible work with radioactivity
Informations complémentaires
Candidates should send a detailed CV, a cover letter and the name of three references.
