Job Description
Missions
A postdoctoral position is currently available on the GyrAChip project within the Atomic Interferometry and Inertial Sensors team at the LTE. The candidate will work on the instrumental development of a gyrometer/accelerometer using cold atoms guided on an atomic microcircuit. Research activities will be conducted within an existing experiment in which ultracold atoms are produced.
Activity
-Preparation of ultracold atoms in a magnetic waveguide
-Simulation, measurement, and characterization of the roughness of magnetic potentials
-Study of coherent atom guidance
-Co-supervision of master's and doctoral students
Your Profil
Skills
-Creation of ultracold atoms on atomic microcircuits
-Creation of linear and circular RF magnetic waveguides on atomic microcircuits
-Creation of RF-clad potentials
-Design and fabrication of electronic circuits
-Instrumentation for atomic interferometry and inertial measurements
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will work on producing LTE microfabrication deliverables as part of the Q-PLANET project. The LTE is one of the world's leading laboratories in the fields of metrology, primary time-frequency standards, and cold-atom interferometry. The laboratory develops state-of-the-art atomic clocks and inertial sensors limited by quantum projection noise. The laboratory's research activities have a significant impact on the industrial application of cold atoms. The world's first cold-atom gyrometer was built at LTE by the Atomic Interferometry and Inertial Sensors team, and its primary frequency standards—in addition to their contribution to International Atomic Time (TAI)—also support the operation of GALILEO via the EGNOS telecommunications and radio navigation satellite.
