Missions

The post-doctoral researcher will take part in the PEPR RADICAL project, the general aim of which is to develop a competitive and eco-responsible aqueous redox-flow battery with circulating electrolytes, based on organic compounds.

In this project, the post-doctoral researcher will carry out molecular simulations to study the chemical stability in aqueous media of the organic species proposed for the redox reactions.

Activités

The post-doc will contribute to various aspects of the project such as :
- developing new theoretical approaches for modelling the properties of electrolytes
- carrying out molecular dynamics simulations
- developing codes to analyse these simulations (using existing tools in the laboratory)
- collaborating with other project participants and experimentalists
- writing publications and taking part in conferences

Compétences

At the start of the project, candidates must hold a PhD in physical chemistry or physics, and have research skills related to the project's theme and activities. Good experience in molecular simulation and/or machine-learning is required, as well as good knowledge of the associated theoretical tools (statistical physics of liquids, etc.); experience in programming such as: Python, Fortran, C, C++, ...). A good command of spoken and written English is required.

Contexte de travail

The PHENIX laboratory (Physical chemistry of electrolytes and interfacial nanosystems) is a joint research unit between the CNRS and Sorbonne University. It is located on the Pierre and Marie Curie campus in central Paris. It is made up of ~90-100 researchers, teacher-researchers, PhD students and post-docs, and conducts research in the fields of energy (electrochemical storage, recycling, etc.), health (nanoparticles for imaging, etc.) and the environment (waste storage, water treatment, etc.).

The post-doctoral researcher will be part of the Electrochemistry and Ionic Liquids team and will carry out his/her research as part of the RADICAL project. He/she will have access to the computing resources of the laboratory and the university.
