Missions

The major aim is for members of the Safe Seaweed Coalition to work together to establish a seaweed industry that provides safe products, safe working conditions and environmental protection as it grows. Together, we strive to help the seaweed sector develop into an industry that will make a significant contribution to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals through improving public health and food security, alleviating poverty, renewing marine ecosystems, and mitigating climate change.

The Safe Seaweed Coalition is looking for an ambitious and talented manager with a passion for developing innovative concepts and managing collaborative work, in particular an innovative global alliance to work within the Secretariat in close collaboration with the PIs of the coalition.

Activities

- Assisting the PIs in the supervision and implementation of the coalition, and in defining the work plan
- Actively communicating and liaising with coalition partners as well as building networks;
- Support the partners with the project administrative aspects, particularly in the application of rules and procedures specific to calls for proposals of the Safe Seaweed Coalition;
- Budget monitoring (breakdown and transfer of funds, update and follow-up of the budget, internal financial reports, etc.);
- Travelling to proposal/project meetings and events worldwide

Skills

Essential Skills and Competences:

- Minimum qualification: Ph.D. in Environ./ Chemistry/Biology/Life/ Sciences or equivalent;
- Proven direct experience in developing and/or managing international funded research, innovation or cooperative projects;
- A professional experience relevant to the fields of activities and/or the seaweed sector is necessary.
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills to produce proposals and reports;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Essential Skills and Competences:

- Minimum qualification: Ph.D. in Environ./ Chemistry/Biology/Life/ Sciences or equivalent;
- Proven direct experience in developing and/or managing international funded research, innovation or cooperative projects;
- At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience relevant to the fields of activities and/or the seaweed sector;
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills to produce proposals and reports;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable Skills and Competences:

- Knowledge of the management rules associated with international projects.
- IT skills (database management, website content management, programming languages).
- Command of Image processing software (i.e.: Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop, others)- French language and other EU languages, in addition to English.

Work Context

The position is to be filled in the Laboratory of Integrative Biology of Marine Models (LBI2M-UMR8227) at the Roscoff Marine Station (France). You will be under the responsability of the unit manager.
Flexible working time may be required to meet project deadlines. National and international travel will be required to meet members of the coalition, stakeholders, etc.
