Job Description

Missions

The postdoctoral researcher, in collaboration with the research team, will develop and implement new approaches in cell and molecular biology to study the biology of mammalian brain stem cells. We will investigate the mechanisms involved in the developmental differentiation of stem cells into multiciliated ependymal cells. This project is funded by an Équipe FRM grant awarded to N. Spassky.

Activity

The postdoctoral researcher will help to characterise the molecular factors, recently identified by the team, that contribute to regulating the fate of neural stem cells during mouse brain development. A strong command of English, both spoken and written, is essential. A range of techniques will be employed, including cell culture, cell sorting, histology, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and brain microsurgery.
The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with the team's researchers and PhD students and will therefore need to coordinate their experiments accordingly.

Your Profil

Skills

- A degree equivalent to eight years of higher education in molecular biology or biotechnology.

- Dynamism and team spirit

- Adaptability and experimental rigour

- Technical and scientific knowledge of molecular and cellular biology

- Proficiency in technical and scientific English

Your Work Environment

The ENS Institute of Biology (IBENS) is a centre for fundamental research that carries out original research aimed at unravelling the mechanisms underlying biological processes.
As a joint ENS-CNRS-INSERM unit, IBENS is home to over 300 staff, organised into 30 independent teams, conducting highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research that combines experimental and theoretical approaches.
Research activity covers a wide range of subject areas: neuroscience, developmental biology, functional genomics, ecology and evolutionary biology.
Several technological platforms, notably in imaging, genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics, are available to researchers. Research carried out at IBENS benefits from interactions with other disciplines at the ENS (physics, chemistry, cognitive sciences, mathematics). IBENS is actively involved in the training of students and early-career researchers at all levels.
The host team (Ciliary Biology and Neurogenesis), led by Nathalie Spassky, comprises around ten researchers, students and research assistants.
The team's objective is to understand the regulatory mechanisms of neural stem cells and the development of ependymal cells.
The candidate will work in close collaboration with Nathalie Spassky.
