Missions
The candidate will perform voltage imaging of neuronal activity in the hippocampus of mice navigating in a linear track, using a fiberscope developed in the laboratory. The fiberscope enables fast fluorescence confocal imaging, and is an evolution of the prototype described in Dussaux et al, Scientific Reports, 16262, 2018.
The candidate will also analyze the data recorded using existing Matlab and Pythons programs and will develop additional analysis programs.
Activités
Brain surgery in mice (AAV injections, implantation of chronic windows, implantation of extracellular electrodes)
Teaching mice behavioral tasks (navigation in a linear track)
Recording neuronal activity using calcium and voltage imaging and electrophysiology (measurement of LFP)
Data analysis
Compétences
Mouse manipulation.
Brain surgery in mice (injections, implantation of chronic windows and electrodes).
Prior work in optical recording of neuronal activity.
Data analysis (Matlab and Python).
Contexte de travail
The project will be carried out in the team of Laurent Bourdieu at IBENS. This team brings together physicists and neuroscientists working on the development of novel optical methods for imaging neuronal activity and on the study of coding mechanisms in the cortex and the hippocampus.
The project is a collaboration with the team of Michaël Zugaro (Collège de France).
Contraintes et risques
Chemical risk (use of PFA and isoflurane). Risks associated with laser handling (Class 3B).
