Missions

The candidate will work on the PRCI ALSTATIAN project which brings together 3 French laboratories and 2 German laboratories.
He/she will be responsible for chemical characterization of the thin layers and stacks that will be considered in this project. The main objective of ALSATIAN is to explore new solar cell architectures based on perovskite active layer. Different inorganic or hybrid interfacial layers will be considered in order to improve the stability of the perovskite active layer with the aim of protecting it (humidity, ionic migrations, etc.), and limiting electronic losses (passivation, band alignment etc.). These interfacial layers (charge transport layers) will be deposited by ALD and the challenge here will be to adapt the deposition conditions to the specificities of the perovskite so as not to damage it.
X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) will be used to determine the composition of the ALD coatings but also the chemistry of the interfaces. XPS will also allow the study of the reactivity of the perovskite surface at different stages of the ALD process (reactivity with surface precursors, incorporation of precursors, number of cycles, temperature window, etc.). Photoemission analyses carried out by the partner HZB on synchrotron (BESSY) will complete the diagnosis and will be associated with atomic-scale surface simulations carried out by the partner University of Rennes. He/she will participate in the development of analysis methodologies to ensure the reliability of the information obtained and will participate in the analysis campaigns on synchrotron. He/she will study the effectiveness of these coatings to preserve the integrity of the perovskite layer against water by ICP-OES assay.

Activities

• Characterize previously defined materials and structures using XPS
• Develop chemical characterization strategies adapted to the objects (methodology, metrology, multi-technique analyses)
• Ensure communication with the various partners and work in collaboration with the project's doctoral and post-doctoral students
• Manage project data
• Promote scientific results (conferences, articles, etc.)

Skills

A PhD in materials science, skills in electron spectroscopies and ALD deposition method are a plus.

Work Context

This position is part of the PRCI ALSATIAN Project involving French (ILV, IPVF, Rennes University) and German partners (BUW, HZB) and will be is located in Versailles at ILV. There will be some travels to IPVF (at Palaiseau) and occasionally to German Labs.
ILV is a joint research unit CNRS and UVSQ constituted of 3 research teams gathered around three key word: synthesis, properties and analyse. This post-doctoral fellow will be integrated into the Electrochemistry and Physico-chemistry at interfaces (EPI) team.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
