Missions
At the Sorbonne Economics Centre (CES) of the CNRS, located in Paris, the research program "Globalisation, Labour and Public Policies" is recruiting a research assistant/engineer for research projects on geographical and social mobilities and the impact of transport infrastructures on these mobilities, in a historical perspective.
The successful candidate will work on the construction, consolidation and analysis of historical, individual and/or aggregate databases at the level of different geographical units (municipalities, counties, etc.) for France and the United States.
Activités
- Bibliographic review of the theme linked to the subject of study.
- Database construction.
- Processing of the data obtained, visualisation, interpretation and discussion.
- Promotion of results through economic policy briefs, research notes and popularisation and valorisation articles.
Compétences
- Master 2 in quantitative economics.
- Ability to work on large datasets.
- Good knowledge in micro-econometrics.
- Knowledge of computer data processing tools, such as Stata, Python and QGIS.
- Autonomy and good teamwork skills.
- French or English proficiency.
- Knowledge of the PSID (Panel Study of Income Dynamics) would be an asset.
Contexte de travail
The candidate will join the “Globalization, Labor and Public Policies” team at the Sorbonne Economics Centre (CES), a Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR 8174) attached to the Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales of the CNRS. CES is under the primary supervision of CNRS and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, with secondary supervision from IRD. The laboratory brings together some 240 members (researchers, PhD students, and technical and administrative staff) covering disciplines such as economics, applied mathematics, psychology and sociology. The CES is housed at the Maison des Sciences Économiques of the University Paris 1, located at 106/112 boulevard de l'Hôpital, 75013 Paris.
