Job Description
Missions
Develop and experimentally characterise RNA-peptide systems capable of self-organisation, molecular reactions and differential persistence under environmental constraints, within the MICROFLUIDICS targeted project of the PEPR Origins programme.
Activity
- Design, produce and purify functional RNAs and associated peptides.
- Form and characterise RNA-peptide coacervates by microscopy, biophysical measurements and quantitative analyses.
- Study ligation, recombination, amplification or templating reactions within the compartments.
- Measure the effects of salinity, dilution and dehydration-rehydration cycles on the stability and reorganisation of coacervates.
- Analyse data, document results and contribute to reports, publications and meetings of the PEPR Origins programme.
Your Profil
Skills
- RNA biochemistry and molecular biology; RNA-peptide interactions; liquid-liquid phase separation and coacervates; kinetics and thermodynamics of molecular interactions.
- Nucleic acid preparation and purification, electrophoresis, ribozyme assays, fluorescence microscopy and image analysis, sequencing and quantitative data processing.
- Experimental rigour, autonomy, teamwork, scientific writing in English.
Your Work Environment
The position is attached to the Synthetic Biosystems team (head: Philippe Nghe) of the Laboratory of Structural Biology of the Cell (BIOC, UMR 7654, CNRS - Ecole polytechnique). The team builds molecular systems endowed with Darwinian properties to study the emergence of evolution. The MICROFLUIDICS targeted project (WP4.2) of the PEPR Origins programme brings together BIOC, ICMCB (Bordeaux), PIIM (Marseille) and I2M (Bordeaux).
Constraints and risks
Work in a biochemistry and molecular biology laboratory: handling of chemicals and biological agents, use of personal protective equipment. Occasional travel for project meetings.
The position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that the arrival of the employee be authorised by the competent authority of the MESR.
